jilec.org is a not-for-profit organization with a deep concern for nature conservation, particularly in the lake and other water systems aorund the world. We started out as a small unit tasked to clean up a few lakes in our region. In the years that followed, our numbers rose from a handful of volunteers to hundreds of full-time members actively participating in our projects and other endeavors.
For the past 40 years, we have served our communities by spreading awareness on the need to conserve and preserve what we have left, and to restore what previous generations have destroyed, depleted and denuded. At this point, we consider ourselves successful at attaining our goals. We should not rest on our laurels, though. there is still a ton of work to be done.
We have to remain vigilant and pro-active. Our lakes and lakeshores are in need of everyday monitoring to ensure that what we have fought so hard to institute will not be all for naught. With this is mind, we seek to train future generations and make them aware of our advocacies and teach them to continue what we have begun, and keep it thriving for generations to come.
